Intelligent Harvesting: Deploying AI-Driven Robotic Systems for Advanced Product Recognition and Manipulation in Agriculture

  by   Daniele Cafolla

Departments Computer Science
DescriptionThis project focuses on revolutionizing the agricultural landscape through the integration of artificial intelligence and robotics to create a cutting-edge system for recognizing and handling agricultural products. The core objective is to develop an intelligent robotic system capable of identifying various crops and harvesting them with high precision, adapting to different sizes, shapes, and maturity levels. The robotic system employs advanced sensors, computer vision, and machine learning algorithms to detect and assess the condition of crops in real-time. Once identified, the products are carefully manipulated using robotic arms equipped with end-effectors designed to mimic the dexterity of human hands, ensuring delicate handling and minimizing damage to the produce. By automating the process of product recognition and manipulation, the project aims to increase the efficiency of harvesting operations, reduce labor costs, and improve overall yield quality. The student will learn how to deal with software hardware integration using sensors an artificial intelligence contributing to sustainable and intelligent farming methodologies. After consulting with the supervisor, the exact application can be confirmed.
